Respect: A Musical Journey of Women
Page 2

In June 2013 the FCPA staged five performances of Respect: A Musical Journey of Women, all for sold-out crowds who enjoyed the stroll down memory lane. This new musical by Dorothy Marcic poignantly illustrates the history of women's changing roles in the 20th and 21st centuries through the music of the eras, from pre-war tunes like "Bird In A Gilded Cage" and "Won't You Come Home, Bill Bailey" through World War II ("Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition"), into the swinging '60s with songs such as "Bobby's Girl" and "Where the Boys Are" and on through the '70s, the '80s, the '90s and into the 21st century with "Oops! I Did It Again" and "Video." With on-stage accompaniment from a three-piece band, four of the sweetest voices west of the Mississippi blended perfectly to bring history to life with music known the world over.
